Concept Entertainment to close the Zone under 21 dance club.

April 18, 2009

After 23 years as a under 21 dance club in downtown Portland at SW 2nd and Pine, Concept Entertainment has decided to close the doors on the long running establishment and re-image the property as a special event hall & music venue. In the coming months they will be making changes to the property and use the 9500 sq ft facility as an event hall and venue with full catering, built in sound & lights and a full size stage.

The Shareholders of Concept Entertainment also own the property and building. And they have recently finished a full redevelopment Study with the PDC to evaluate what various options for the redevelopment of the Historic Baggage and carriage building where the Zone is located.

The closure has come due to a slowing of business in recent months that partially stemmed from a tainted image after the random shooting on 2nd ave in January and a slowing economy.

Over the years the Zone has been a safe and secure option with teens looking for both a place to go on the weekends and a community/club to feel like they were party of. The ownership and staff would like to thank everyone who has supported and partnered with the Zone over the years.
